How to Prepare For Your Appointment
✨ How to Best Prepare for Your Tattoo Appointment ✨
Preparing properly for your tattoo appointment helps your skin handle the session better, improves healing, and can reduce the need for additional sessions. Here’s how to set yourself up for success:
💧 Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
- Drink plenty of water for at least 2–3 days before your appointment
- Well-hydrated skin accepts ink better and is less likely to become overworked
Dry, dehydrated skin is more prone to swelling and tapping out early.
🧴 Moisturize Your Skin
- Moisturize the area daily for several days leading up to your appointment
- Use a simple, unscented lotion
Healthy skin = smoother tattooing.
🍽 Eat a Good Meal
- Eat a solid meal 1–2 hours before your appointment
- Bring snacks for longer sessions
Low blood sugar can increase pain, dizziness, and fatigue.
😴 Get Enough Rest
- Try to get a full night’s sleep the night before
- Being overtired can lower pain tolerance significantly
🚫 Avoid Alcohol & Drugs
- No alcohol 24 hours before your appointment
- Avoid recreational drugs
- Limit caffeine if you’re sensitive to it
These can thin the blood and make tattooing harder on your skin.
👕 Wear Comfortable Clothing
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area
- Dark clothing is recommended (ink happens!)
🧠 Be Honest About Your Limits
- It is always okay to tap out
- Pain tolerance and skin response vary from person to person
- If you’re worried about sitting for a full session, let us know ahead of time. We can plan for multiple sessions from the start
⚠️ Understand Skin Has Limits
- Skin response is not something an artist can control
- Sometimes skin becomes overworked or stops accepting ink
- Stopping and continuing another day is sometimes the safest option for the quality of your tattoo
Additional sessions may be necessary and are priced separately.
🤍 Final Note
Proper preparation helps, but every body and every session is different. The goal is always a safe, high-quality tattoo that heals well and lasts.
Pricing
TATTOO PRICING
I price my tattoos by the piece, not hourly. This covers design time, setup, tattooing, and my experience. You’re paying for the finished tattoo, not the clock. Quotes are based on size, placement, detail, and whether the design is custom or flash.
A non-refundable deposit is required to book.
Quotes cover however many sessions/ time discussed. If the piece isn't finished due to time, pain tolerance, or breaks, additional sessions are priced separately.
It’s okay to tap out. I never want clients to push themselves past their limits. Your comfort and safety always comes first. I completely understand that needing to stop or schedule another session can feel frustrating, and I want you to know there is no judgment at all.
Please understand that tattoo pricing for me is based on the expected time, preparation, and supplies for each session. If a piece is not finished due to pain tolerance, fatigue, or skin limitations, an additional session will be required and priced separately. This simply just reflects the additional time, supplies, and booking space needed to complete the tattoo.
Skin response is something I cannot control. Sometimes skin becomes overworked (We are avoiding this at all costs.), stops accepting ink properly, or needs time to rest and heal before continuing. In those cases, stopping is the safest and best option for the quality of the tattoo. Proper hydration and moisturizing in the days leading up to your appointment can greatly improve skin tolerance and overall healing, but everybody and every session is different.
